My name is Colin Chan.

I am a clinical academic professor and an eye surgeon specializing in laser eye and cataract surgery.

I am also a passionate amateur bird and wildlife photographer. In 2026, I was honored to be named the Winner of the Animals in Nature Category for the Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year.

Nature photography was first a way for me to relax and renerergise, but now has become something that inspires my clinical and research work. The connections between human health and the natural world have become clearer to me and I am a strong believer that we have much to learn and much to protect.
